On Sunday, 4.7. 2010 took place in Bavaria a referendum on a comprehensive ban on smoking in restaurants. 61 percent of participants voted for the strictest anti-smoking law in Germany and thus is from 1 August, smoking in restaurants, cafes, bars and even beer tents banned without exception. The only special permit shall be this year's Oktoberfest in Munich, where you can smoke again, because this matter had been brought before the people vote on a motion. A total of 9.4 million electors of Bavaria, of which only around 38 percent made before it is exercised. Austria is of such a strict law still far away. Health Minister Alois Stoger (SPÖ) advocates to oppose a referendum on the topic of smoking. It assumes that the current smoking law implemented, monitored and executed will. Since 1 July 2010, in Austria a physical separation of smoking and Non smoking areas in restaurants mandatory. Failure to comply with these provisions should expect landlords to penalties 2000-10000 €. The catch is that a strict and rigorous regulatory control of the Austrian-smoking law is made so far.
